- Steel-toe boots if you own them

When they ask about your record
"Yes. In [year] I was convicted of [offense in plain words]. I took responsibility and served my time. While I was there I [class, certification, job, or recovery work]. Since then I have [what you have done]. I am ready to work, and I am covered by the free Federal Bonding Program for my first six months."
Keep it under 30 seconds, be honest, and bring it back to the job. If your record was expunged, you may answer about the expunged part as if it never happened.
